Hi Donald,
Good luck with this. I think its over due that a film on Silas Soule and the Sand Creek massacre should be made.
Silas Soule along with Ned Wynkoop are fascinating American characters. Silas, especially with his abolitionist background, his friendships with John Brown and Walt whitman, and the fact he lost his life for his beliefs is particularly intriguing.. In a country that overuses the term"hero" it is really a shame that someone like him has not been recognized. Fascinating story.
I am working on a graphic novel about the Sand Creek Massacre.
Anyway best of luck.
Franco Gulli
Dear Mr. Gulli, Thank you for your message and thoughtful wish. "The Captain" will be showing Silas's interactions with John Brown, Walt Whitman, Kit Carson, Chief Black Kettle, John Chivington, etc. in relation to fighting racism. As you, I think the same, Silas Soule is an "unsung" American hero, one of the best ever and he only lived until age 25 when Charlie Squires gunned him down. Yes, a very fascinating story. Thanks again for writing. Best wishes for success with your novel. Best Regards, Don Vasicek

AN AMERICAN HERO "The Captain"
"A cocksure U. S. Army Captain driven to help the Cheyenne finds the only way to succeed is to disobey his commanding officer’s order to fire on them."
This soldier, pioneering abolitionist, and friend of the Cheyenne fought racism and hatred... paying with his life.
